Mixing influences that range from the British Invasion, down home country, and early punk, the Sons Of Morning have pulled this album from the depths of their musical souls! The result is pure, homegrown magic, reminiscent of what was once known to happen in the sound studios of early sixties London, or small town independant studios in the deep South. Throw in a bit of NYC grit and you might start to think you have a good idea of what 'The Sons' are about.... That is, until you listen to this album and realize its something different, yet every bit as exciting and inspired as the roots it sprang from. No trip down memory lane, the Sons Of Morning is as fresh and now as were the Beatles and Stones when they first assaulted the American youth from the stage of the Ed Sullivan Show. From the opening notes of 'Outta My Head' to the closing fade out of 'Shine', the songs are immediately catchy, yet deep enough to keep the true rock'n'roll enthusiast coming back again and again. On the technical side: Purists and gearheads alike will appreciate the SOM sound. Painstaking efforts were made to achieve the desired feel for this album. All tube amps, a choice selection of just the right stringed instruments - some of which are featured on the inside album cover - drums that sound like drums, recording methods, and production were all key elements in presenting an album with the warmth of the analog days and the added clarity only dreamed of for this kind of music- until now. The song selection is a tribute to the days when pop, rock'n'roll, and country songs would find themselves side by side on many top artists' albums. Instead of a few songs that sound like 'hits' being surrounded by filler, the goal was always an album filled with 'A' sides. The result is a cornucopia of top notch songs that plays like the Greatest Hits of your new favorite band. SONS OF MORNING. 'nuff said.
